In 1947 in a small Austrian village a legend was born. Successful bodybuilder, Mr. Universe, seven times Mr. Olympia, world known actor, governor of California since 2011.
Arnold Schwarzenegger has become more than a star, he is an icon and he is living the ultimate American dream.
Weight lifting and power lifting
During Arnolds early years in bodybuilding he competed in many power lifting competitions.
His personal records are:
Bench Press: 440 lb (200 kilograms)
Squat: 545 lb (247 kilograms)
Dead lift: 710 lb (320 kilograms)
From the beginning as he stared lifting weights his only dram was to become the best bodybuilder in the world.
The first time when he competed in Mr. Olympia was in 1969 where he lost to Sergio Oliva. He was crushed, but his combination of hard work, confidence and positive thinking led him win the next year 1970.
That year Arnold became the youngest Mr. Olympia ever, 23 years old, a record he holds to this day.
He continued winning Mr. Olympia thru next years, 1971 - 74. After he won the next year in 1975 he announced his retirement, but came back to Mr. Olympia in 1980 and won that show.

The same year (1975) couple mots before Mr. Olympia he was filmed while training in bodybuilding documentary Pumping Iron.
